What our visitors say

On the 9th of Sept of this year I took a group of ten people including my self to the silent retreat that is MIRT. On arrival the host was more than accommodating and made all feel welcome and at ease.

The week consisted of 5 activities which were all well thought out and planned with precision.

The group that I took to MIRT was a mixture of Royal Marine Corporals and recruits who were all injured to varying degrees. The Adventure training played an essential role in bringing the group together and also in accelerating the rehabilitation of each individual. This was achieved through excellent activities and time to rest and recuperate.

I believe MIRT to be a vital part of what we are to achieve within the Royal Marines Rehabilitation group and I am proud to say that I was part of it.

This is the first time I ever went on any type of adventure training with the corps. Before the week I have never done any Sailing, Fly-fishing, Archery or Clay pigeon shooting. All the activities were well timed and well-co-ordinated by MIRT. I enjoyed every moment of the week. We were greeted by an open door loving atmosphere and kindness we immediately felt at home and at ease. The food was of an exceptional standard even the readymade packed lunches were as adventurous as the activities. I would definitely recommend this week for any one. The week was an awesome break from daily routine and lovely time to relax, recuperate and at the same time have extreme amount of fun. A special thanks to the whole of the M.I.R.T team for the kindness and support during this adrenalin filled week a definite high mark of my year!!!

The week at Scarborough was very enjoyable and relaxing. I found the activities great fun with great instructors. I had previous sailing experience and they were able to cater this by providing me with a more advanced boat. The other activities where all first time and found the instruction excellent.

The food and accommodation was to a very high standard.

I had an extremely enjoyable week and would recommend this package.

I had a great week away from the usual rigours of rehabilitation, which was enjoyed also by my peers and seniors. The hospitality was more than enough, with an extremely good host. The accommodation we stayed in also couldn’t be faulted. The location was suitable for us, because all the activities were nearby along with the gym; which enabled us to carry on with our rehabilitation. Overall, I thoroughly recommend The MIRT package and hope it continues for future parties.

The adventure training course in Scarborough is something that all recruits should work hard to get picked to go on. The activities ranging from mountain biking to sailing were all very enjoyable with M.I.R.T prepared with activities to suit all injuries. The base was perfect with well enough room for at least 10 people. The food was of a very good standard and there was enough to feed a football team. After each day's activity there was the opportunity to go to 2 different gyms or a spa in a local hotel all 3 were of a high standard. To finish things off the MIRT made the trip very enjoyable, hoofing with a great run ashore.

I found that the whole experience of the adventure training package very well organised and extremely enjoyable. It was a first for doing several of the activities for me and I can’t fault how it was all run. The MIRT was very comfortable and the food was great. Overall location was ideal for access to the activities, gyms and run ashore. I would definitely recommend this and I hope that this package will continue to run.

I had a brilliant week in Scarborough and was a great break from the day to day rehabilitation. The activities were fun and all of them where things I had never tried before, my favourite was the mountain biking where I thought the tuition really helped. The hospitality could not have been any better and the accommodation perfectly located close to the town centre and a short drive to the days activities. I would certainly go again if I had the opportunity.

Having attended many adventure training packages I can honestly say that Scarborough is by far one of the best. Elizabeth Parker has clearly learnt how to run an outstanding package despite it being a trial run. The activities we took part in were well suited to each individual. They provided us with an excellent opportunity to develop team building skills and increase morale, of which there was abundance.

It is amazing how much effort Mrs Parker has contributed to the M.I.R.T project at a cost to herself. Due to the professional conduct and gregarious personality of Mrs Parker, she is given more than the usual expected amount of respect. I do not just speak for myself with these high words of gratitude, I know all others involved do too.

I have served thirteen years in the Royal Marines and have been involved in many adventure training packages and I must say that M.I.R.T has been one of the best and most enjoyable packages I have done. I enjoyed all the activities and the instructors were very capable and friendly.

The hospitality was top class and I would highly recommend this package.

Having attended both the  M.I.R.T project I would say Scarborough was the most enjoyable of many I have been to, the location is perfect as it is only a short drive to all the different activities. A lot of time and effort has been put into this project to make it work as well as it does.

There was something for everyone in the activities and all of them were very enjoyable especially the mountain biking and field archery. To summarise it was a great week thanks to Miss Parker and I would definitely go again.

On arrival at the townhouse I noticed how well presented the unique accommodation was presented and felt immediately at home. Our host Elizabeth Parker could not do enough for all the lads and she made the whole experience comfortable and homely.

I thought that the activities were very enjoyable and well balanced with the more physically demanding activities at the start of the week and progressing on to the less demanding at the end.

I enjoyed the varied types of activities as they were different to the standard types normally on offer to us on previous military adventure training packages giving us all the opportunity to try something new. I would highly recommend this package and would definitely go again.

The Tetley Venture package was a great escape from the usual routine of rehabilitation which was very much welcomed by me and the other members of the Troop who attended. I found the accommodation comfortable and homely with a friendly atmosphere which was very much brought together by our host and founder of the project Elizabeth Parker. Despite being hindered by my injury I enjoyed all the activities that I took part in and would definitely go again in the future.

I have served nine years in the Royal Marines and I have done several adventure training packages in the past. Tetley Venture was by far the most enjoyable than the other packages and it was a great escape from military routine.

Our host Elizabeth Parker was exceptional and I felt welcomed into a very friendly and relaxing atmosphere, the accommodation was very comfortable and the food was great.

I enjoyed the range of activities and count three of which that I had never tried before which was a welcomed change from the common activities done on previous packages with the Marines.

The instructors were very friendly and made each of the activities enjoyable and I particularly liked the field archery.

I found the whole experience enjoyable with a nice balance of adventure training and social activities and I would like to go again if the opportunity arises in the future.

I had a great week which had an equal balance of physical and social activities and I found the instructors very friendly. Elizabeth parker was a great host with brilliant hospitality and made us all feel very welcomed. The accommodation was very comfortable and the food was great.

The location was good as it was very close to all the activities and to the gym nearby which gave us the opportunity to carry on with our rehabilitation. I had a great week and would recommend the package.

I have taken part in many adventure training packages and have had a good chance to evaluate all of them. I enjoyed my time in all but found Scarborough more suitable due to its location as all of the events were within a short distance which reduced travelling allowing more time for the activities of which were well run.

Elizabeth Parker was an excellent host who made every effort to ensure the lads had an enjoyable time and that the whole package ran as smoothly as possible.

I really enjoyed the package and cannot fault it and I hope that Elizabeth Parker continues these packages for future rehab Troops.
